I quote Natalie Merchant: “Go west Paradise is there,” well if equipped with the Carl F. Bucherer Patravi Travel Tec GMT both directions can be a real pleasure. Bucherer doesn’t always hit the radar for some enthusiasts, which is a real shame. This mega-watch (46 plus mm) with in-house caliber 1901.1 has all the makings and marks to be Haute Horology and then some.
Firstly, the movement is a radical change from typical GMTs. The button at 10:00 on the left side twists to show which direction you’re flying in. Secondly, the functionality is easy: just turn and push and your hour ring adjusts for your time zone.
The Travel Tec has “pleasure weight” as I like to call it. Heavy, but in a way that makes it feel rich and luxurious to wear. The gold is a power statement at $44,000 USD, and should be on the wrist of a business person making his/her way abroad. It’s a soak-it-in type of piece that almost has to be handled to be truly appreciated. Oh it’s also chronograph with my favorite kind of pushers. Find a dealer and get to the airport, east or west. At a glance it’s all paradise.
