While recently checking out the Certina line and what they have to offer, I remembered the Certina DS Action Diver that was released in Basel! This is a piece I personally want to acquire on many levels. In the states, there are very few dealers and you won’t see yourself coming and going. The 45mm steel case is sized right, so it will grab some attention and spark interest. Likewise it has that nice Salt and Pepper looking strap that makes it cool to me. The mechanics are above average being equipped with automatic Valjoux 7753, and making it workhorse worthy.
I also love hard-guy screw-down pushers that make the watch more durable in the long run. The watch is all Swatch Group and is the sleeper brand amongst the big boys. Overall, this a very nice offering from Certina. Oddly, it also comes in plain Jane strap versions too, which turned me off. If you go Certina DS Action Diver, it is Salt and Pepper strap all the way for me. I want the flavor! Certina touts it as “Extreme character and confidence at sea,” that is me! Seriously, at 200m water resistance and the new heavy duty screw down pushers, it should hold up well under pressure.
