Well known watch figure George Daniels has passed away on Oct. 21 2011. He produced the co-axial escapement for Omega, authored books on watch making, and was quite respected in the industry. He was an English watchmaker, which in and of itself has merit due to the scarcity of that lot. His real work won’t be understood by the masses, but he was a great one. He will be missed, enjoy the brief video interview above.
Mr. Daniels was quite a renaissance man, invented the coaxial escapement, played accordion and harmonica, and restored classic automobiles. Consider yourself fortunate to see a watch of his.
