Grand Seiko GMT Anniversary Limited Edition SBGM031

Grand Seiko GMT SBGM031 Blue Dial Watch Caliber 9S66
When I first glanced upon her beauty, it was at Baselworld this year. It sang to me then and it sings to me now. I really love the Grand Seiko line of watches and how they have a hard to describe richness that many watches are missing. I feel the love in them like a good meal, they are prepared well and made to be cheerished.

The automatic GMT pictured was one of the center piece attractions at the Seiko booth. No need to ask why. The GS line is limited in the United States and should remain as such. It should be exclusive and handled properly. Mostly dealers of reputation have received the honor to carry them, but a few not so great ones always find a way to sneak through.

If you like an Asian made watch and can put your ski goggles aside for a bit, these watches will knock your socks off. The GMT auto, fabulous, the caliber 9S66 sports 28,800 beats per hour, and a staggering 72 hour power reserve. The spring drive models intrigue me the most, with the butter smooth second sweep. They are hard to put down! Even the fine quartz models are coming in at around $2,700 USD, so most people can be players in the game. A real strong offering of products from Seiko lately, and this brand keeps getting better and better. Now after all that, the Astron Solar GPS watch is getting shipped to make your choice even harder. More on that later….

The watch shown here is a Grand Seiko GMT reference SBGM031 retailing for $6,300 USD.

  1. Ugh but it’s still a Seiko. Spending that much might as well get a Rolex instead of a subpar watch like this.

  2. Seikos are under-rated because everyone thinks Swiss is the top shelf. Swiss are just good at making everyone think they are the best.
