The Venus 175 calibre was used in the Breitling Chronomat of the 1940’s and 50’s. This picture captures a movement that had been actually worn and loved for years. The manual Chronograph still holds true in many models but is long out of production. I recall reading an article that this model was sold to the Chinese years ago for their military pilots and evolved into a mutant manual from Seagull (caliber ST19) years later. The original Venus 175 is noted as a solid movement in our Caliber Corner. I mostly see vintage models like this one for appraisals and it still fetches good dollars in the right case and brand, specifically gold chronos of old/new stock, etc.
The watch pictured is a vintage Breitling Chronomat 217012.
